Is John Daly a bad example for Arkansas?

More problems have plagued former Arkansas Razorback John Daly. After his first round of play in the Stanford St. Jude Championship, Daly finished tied for eighth; a promising beginning in the tournament for the flailing golfer. But it was his problems off the course that have made headlines.
Daly reportedly told authorities that this wife attacked him with a steak knife Friday. Daly has not filed charges and his agent Bud Martin said “what happened speaks for itself.”
Daly showed up for round two with marks on his face from the apparent attack then began to sink lower and lower on the scoreboard.
He received a sponsor’s exemption to play in the tournament in Memphis because of the home crowd he was expected to draw to the championship. He finished the third round 18 shots off the leader and over nine strokes.
The golfer who is on the verge of losing his players card called the Shelby County sheriff’s department early Friday morning and said he was the “victim of an assault by my wife.” Sherrie Daly and the couple’s children were not there when deputies arrived at the home and officials searched the neighborhood but could not find her or the knife that the former Hog claimed she used in the attack.
The incident has become just one more issue to add to the long list of situations that Daly has faced.
He has been in alcohol rehab twice, had substantial gambling losses, trashed hotels rooms and went through suspensions. All of these things have become a more well-known feature to his resume over his 1991 PGA Championship and his 1995 British Open victory.
So, do you think Daly is a bad example for Arkansas?

I really like John, but with so much talent.....I Do WISH John would get his life together. He could still be great on the course! The people love him, but most know he has problems etc. All who know him want Big John to get it together and play like he is capable of.....

Daly, has a lot of talent, but before i could make the call that you are asking for i would like to know both sides of the story,

What a shame! He has so much potential and opportunity. He obviously hasn't made up his mind that he wants to overcome his problems. He is more into just accepting them. He could be a great ambassador for the state of Arkansas. I don't think he is really an embarassment or bad example for Arkansas but definitely he is NOT living up to his potential.
